Can to self read my notes?
No. Notes and file attachments are encrypted with AES-256-GCM on your device before they ever leave it. Our servers only ever store ciphertext, and we never hold the keys to decrypt it.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Every note is backed up automatically as you write it, already encrypted. Sign in on your new device and everything restores.
Is to self free?
Yes. The free tier is complete: unlimited notes and notebooks, end-to-end encryption, and automatic encrypted backup. Pro adds live sync across all your devices and more attachment storage.
How is to self different from Google Keep or Apple Notes?
It's built around how you actually think out loud: notes read like a chat thread with yourself instead of a grid of sticky notes. Everything is end-to-end encrypted so we can't read it, and there are no ads and no analytics tracking you.
Does to self work offline?
Yes. Everything is stored locally first, so your notes are there whether or not you're connected. Search is fully local too, so it never touches the server.
Is there a limit on how many notes I can create?
No. Notes and notebooks are unlimited on both free and Pro. The only limit is attachment storage: 100 MB on free, 10 GB on Pro.
